Expansion! Expansion! Expansion! Polypropylene (PP) all the way forward!

In the past 10 years, polypropylene has been expanding its capacity, of which 3.05 million tons was expanded in 2016, breaking the 20 million tons mark, and the total production capacity reached 20.56 million tons. In 2021, the capacity will be expanded by 3.05 million tons, and the total production capacity will reach 31.57 million tons. The expansion will be concentrated in 2022. Jinlianchuang expects to expand the capacity to 7.45 million tons in 2022. In the first half of the year, 1.9 million tons have been put into operation smoothly. In the past ten years, polypropylene production capacity has been on the road of capacity expansion. From 2013 to 2021, the average growth rate of domestic polypropylene production capacity is 11.72%. As of August 2022, the total domestic polypropylene production capacity is 33.97 million tons. It can be seen from the above figure that there have been two small peaks of capacity expansion in the past ten years. The first one was the average growth rate of 15% from 2013 to 2016. The capacity expansion in 2014 was 3.25 million tons, which was the year with the largest capacity expansion. 3.05 million tons, breaking through the 20 million tons mark, with a total production capacity of 20.56 million tons. The second peak of capacity expansion is in 2019-2021, with an average growth rate of 12.63%. In 2021, the capacity will be expanded by 3.03 million tons, with a total production capacity of 31.57 million tons. In the first half of 2022, 1.9 million tons have been put into production, and the new enterprises are distributed in East China, North China and Northeast China. East China accounted for the largest new capacity of 1.2 million tons. Among them, Zhejiang Petrochemical has a total production capacity of 900,000 tons. At present, Zhejiang Petrochemical has a total production capacity of 1.8 million tons. It is currently the largest producer of polypropylene. According to the source of raw materials, Daqing Haiding is made of PDH, Tianjin Bohua is made of MTO, and the rest are made of oil, accounting for 79%.
