In the first eight months of 2024, the cumulative export value of plastic products in China increased by 9% year-on-year

In recent years, the export of most rubber and plastic products has maintained a growth trend, such as plastic products, styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, butyl rubber and so on. Recently, the General Administration of Customs issued a table of the national import and export of major commodities in August 2024. The details of the import and export of plastics, rubber and plastic products are as follows:

Plastic products: In August, China's plastic products exports amounted to 60.83 billion yuan; From January to August, exports totaled 497.95 billion yuan. In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative export value increased by 9.0% over the same period last year.

Plastic in primary shape: In August 2024, the number of plastic imports in primary shape was 2.45 million tons, and the import amount was 26.57 billion yuan; From January to August, the import volume was 19.22 million tons, with a total value of 207.01 billion yuan. In the first eight months of this year, the volume of imports increased by 0.4% and the value decreased by 0.2% compared with the same period last year.

Natural and synthetic rubber (including latex) : In August 2024, the import volume of natural and synthetic rubber (including latex) was 616,000 tons, and the import value was 7.86 billion yuan; From January to August, the import volume was 4.514 million tons, with a total value of 53.63 billion yuan. In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative volume and value of imports decreased by 14.6 percent and 0.7 percent compared to the same period last year.

In general, factors such as the improvement of domestic supply capacity, the construction of overseas factories by Chinese tire companies, and the active development of overseas markets by domestic enterprises are the main drivers of the growth of domestic rubber and plastic products exports. In the future, with the further release of the new expansion capacity of most products, the continuous improvement of product quality, and the continuous acceleration of the pace of internationalization of related enterprises, the export quantity and amount of some products are expected to continue to grow.
