PVC is short for polyvinyl chloride, and its appearance is white powder. PVC is one of the five general plastics in the world. It is widely used globally, especially in the construction field. There are many types of PVC. According to the source of raw materials, it can be divided into calcium carbide method and ethylene method. The raw materials of calcium carbide method mainly come from coal and salt. Raw materials for ethylene process mainly come from crude oil. According to different production processes, it can be divided into suspension method and emulsion method. The PVC used in the construction field is basically suspension method, and the PVC used in the leather field is basically emulsion method. Suspension PVC are mainly used to produce: PVC pipes, PVC profiles, PVC films, PVC shoes, PVC wires and cables, PVC floors and so on. Emulsion PVC are mainly used to produce: PVC gloves, PVC artificial leather, PVC wallpaper, PVC toys, etc.
PVC production technology always comes from Europe, USA and Japan. The global PVC production capacity reached 60 million tons, and China accounted for half of the world. In China, 80% of PVC is produced by calcium carbide process and 20% by ethylene process, because China has always been a country with more coal and less oil.
