From the perspective of raw material sources, both externally sourced propylene and oil based sources are available. This year, the source of raw material oil production is relatively diversified, and the proportion of PDH continues to expand. From the perspective of enterprise nature, local enterprises account for a relatively large proportion of enterprises expected to be put into operation in 2024. At present, many polypropylene production enterprises are actively researching and developing high-end products, planning export business, and enhancing their competitiveness.
According to statistics from Jinlianchuang, in the second quarter of 2024, 5 production enterprises plan to start production, with a total of 6 production lines and a total new production capacity of 2.45 million tons. The proportion of raw material sources PDH in the second quarter is the highest. At the end of March, Zhongjing Petrochemical's Phase II project of 1 million tons/year propane dehydrogenation was successfully put into operation, and it is expected to be connected to the polypropylene unit around mid April. The 660000 tons/year PDH and 450000 tons/year PP projects of Quanzhou Guoheng Chemical Co., Ltd. are located in the Nanshan area of Quangang Petrochemical Industrial Zone. The project adopts UOP's Oleflex process technology, using propane as raw material and platinum based catalysts to produce polymer grade propylene products and hydrogen by-products through catalytic and separation processes; At the same time, utilizing Lyondellbasell's patented Spheripol technology, we produce a full range of polypropylene products including homopolymerization, random copolymerization, and impact copolymerization. The 660000 ton/year PDH unit of the enterprise is expected to operate in April, and the downstream polypropylene unit is expected to be put into operation in April. From the perspective of the regions where the production enterprises are located, they are mostly distributed in South China, North China, and East China. From the perspective of production enterprises, local enterprises account for the majority. Focus on the production progress of Guoheng Chemical, Jinneng Technology, and Zhongjing Petrochemical in the second quarter.
